Grant Awards
August 31, 2004 - Thank you to the Sherling Animal Welfare Fund for awarding funds to support our rescue programs.
Thank you to the Calgary Foundation for awarding grant funds to support
the costs for equipment and furnishings for the Animal Welfare Resource Centre
in the new Cochrane Humane Society building.
Charity Golf Tournament
The 1st Annual petsDOmatter Cochrane Humane Society Charity Golf Tournament
was a huge success! It looks like we will have made close to $10,000 in our
first year! The weather could not have been better, the food, beverages & prizes
were fantastic and the golfers and volunteers had a wonderful time! We have
many people to thank for making this event happen….(in no particular order)

Grant Awards
June 9, 2004 - A warm thanks to the Donner Canadian Foundation for awarding us a grant to be used towards First Nations Animal Rescue expenses.
A big thank you to PETsMART Charities of Canada for awarding the Cochrane
Humane Society a generous grant to assist with veterinary expenses.
New vehicle
February 19, 2004 - Thanks to the generosity of the Alberta Lottery Fund
and Cochrane Dodge Chrysler Jeep, the Cochrane Humane Society has a brand
new Dodge Caravan! We were in need of a safe, reliable, new vehicle to transport
staff and animals and we applied to the Alberta Lottery Fund for assistance
with this purchase. Cochrane Dodge offered a very generous donation to cover
the rest of the cost of the van. We were successful in our grant application
and Cochrane Dodge came through with a brand new Dodge Caravan. As you will
see from the great photographs, our new van has been decked out with sharp
looking signage and pictures of our Ambassador Dog Gus, courtesy of Cochrane
Sign and Design.

and Cochrane Sign and Design for making this possible.
The Eagle Has Landed
February 2, 2004 - Good News to Start the New Year (or The Eagle Has Landed - in a Big Way!)
Thanks to the generosity of the Cochrane Eagle weekly newspaper, the Cochrane Humane Society New Building Fund has started the year off with a bang. For the next two years, the Cochrane Eagle has pledged almost $12,000/year toward the Building Fund. This generous donation was pledged as a result of the Cochrane Eagle's decision to donate all proceeds from their recently acquired Town of Cochrane advertising contract.
Animal lovers in their own right (with a houseful of pets of their own),
Jack and Brenda Tennant have also made a weekly advertising space available
to the Cochrane Humane Society to tell our story. Each week, we are now able
to share one of our "Happy Endings" success stories about a pet
who entered our care and now has a happy home of their own. It's a great
chance to show the community what the Cochrane Humane Society does and the
difference we can all make in the life of an animal.
Cochrane Times News And Updates
January 23, 2004 - Turn to page 3 in the Cochrane Times every other week where you will find out the latest Cochrane Humane Society news and updates on our plans to build a new animal care facility! Thanks to the Cochrane Times for their generous sponsorship of this advertising space.
And, as in years past, the Cochrane Times will once again be donating weekly
advertisements promoting our available dogs and cats. Watch for our display

New for 2004
January 2, 2004 - The Cochrane Humane Society has some exciting new changes for the new year. All dog and cat adoptions will now include a PetLynx™ Identification and Recovery System Registration as well as an introductory period of Pet Plan insurance. Another exciting change is that Nutram Pet Products Ltd. has made a fantastic offer to the Cochrane Humane Society. Nutram will be providing enough free cat and dog food to feed all of the animals at our shelter on a constant basis. Not only will this save us money but it allows us to provide a high quality diet for the animals in our care.
As well, we will now be selling Nutram dog and cat food right here at the shelter! Ask our staff for more information if you are interested in trying Nutram.
